Amazing architect of urban planning project of the harbor zone. Named “The Orange Cube” by Jakob + Macfarlane Architects was designed with a concept in mind to highlight the autonomy of a new scene. Shaped “cube” simple orthogonal become a giant part of the extracted, to address the needs of light, ventilation and views. Have a hole like a Cheese Hole, very artistic inspiration for design architecture.
The void created, pierces the building horizontally and upwards to the roof terrace. The lightweight façade with apparently random openings is finished off by another façade, pierced with pixilated patterns that are adjunct to the movement of the river. To create the void, the architects worked with a series of volumetric perturbations, mathematical methods that give approximate solutions to problems that cannot be solved exactly. Associated with the subtraction of three ‘conic’ volumes inclined on three levels; the angle of the façade, the roof and the level of the entry. These perturbations generate spaces and form a relation between the building and its users in terms of the site and the natural lighting inside an office program.

I think Jakob Macfarlane Architect is very intelligent with a selection of colors in the orange building with a car-based, industrial colors that are often used for harbor zone, because the moisture resistance and prevent corrosion. Orange Cube is one of the most interesting effort in the dock Lyon, with the appearance of form, color, skin and interior and exterior connections are designed with care. Can provide attraction in the French city of Lyon pier.
