The owners of this home wanted a vibrant living room in the Spanish style and thought a color choice like purple would help. The problem was that the muted purple didn’t jump out when mixed with a myriad of muted colors. The room needed a simplified color palette to bring everything together and make it stand out the way the couple intended.

A Perfect Palette

The new palette consists of purple, gold, brown and black. Purple is used on the fireplace wall so that it’s visible from the entryway, while a bright gold is painted on the fireplace and the other three walls. The gold does more than complement the purple — it also adds a lot of light, which instantly energizes the space. The family photos are arranged into a large framed photo collage that hangs as a focal piece above the fireplace.
